I'm going to try reading Tarot about current events and news stories. I find that I don't really follow up on anything when I'm reading for myself, so I don't know how effective my readings are. Of course, one flaw for this is that my "querent" isn't sitting here with me, so they can't hear my prediction and take from it whatever they need to get the result they'd like (of course, I shouldn't be so vain to presume that I'd inspire anybody to do anything!). Anyhow, here goes!
I have selected the CBC Nova Scotia news story "Backyard chicken fight heats up", last updated on Friday, August 6, 2010, 6:08pm. I did this reading at about midnight on August 7, 2010. This news article is about Fred Connors, who is currently fighting HRM city hall over keeping hens in his backyard. A local businessman and advocate for urban farming and buying local, this story has garnered a lot of attention. You can read the story here.
Deck: Tell-Me Tarot
Querent: JGP for Fred Connors
Question: What will come of Fred's Chickens?
..... 1.....
2.....3......4
Card 1: Outcome
Cards 2,3,4: Contributing Factors
Card 1: The Star
Card 2: 5 of Swords
Card 3: 6 of Swords
Card 4: The Hanged Man
When I drew these cards, they were all reversed. However, the Tell-Me Tarot Deck, which can read more like an oracle than a Tarot deck due to the keywords printed on the back, I decided to flip them all around rather than put a lot of thought into the reversals.
I see a favourable ruling for Fred and his chicken dilemma (card 1, the Star). I think that despite conflict with HRM council (card 2, 5 of Swords) the community and his supporters will rally around him (card 3). All he has to do is trust in his resources and supporters and let them help him (card 4).
The next card in the deck was the Nine of Wands, and the card on the bottom of the deck was the Queen of Pentacles (reversed). (I can't help but check!)
Anyhow, you heard it here first! Fred's chickens are here to STAY.
Welcome to my tarot blog. I am a tarot beginner, I picked up my Rider-Waite deck shortly after Christmas 2009 after having wanted to learn to read for a long time. I keep this blog mostly for myself, but would welcome any discussion that anybody would like to contribute to my tarot journaling. I am especially interested in the history of Tarot/Tarocchi and would like to learn not only how to read Tarot cards, but Tarot card games as well.
